Ms. Bonita Sharma is the Co-founder and CEO of Social Changemakers Innovators (SOCHAI)- a youth-led non- profit. Her organization works towards improving health, hygiene and nutritional status of people, particularly women, children and girls in Nepal through innovation, education and entrepreneurship. Bonita holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and a Master’s degree in Home science (Specialization in Food and Nutrition) from Tribhuvan University.
Bonita is listed on “BBC’s 100 Most Inspiring and Influential Women from around the World in 2019”. She has been featured by UNESCO as a Female Champion for Women and Girls’ Education in Nepal. She was also the winner of UNICEF Winner of UNICEF High Level Meeting on Child Rights (HLM3) - Youth Innovation
Challenge in Kualalumpur, Malaysia for the idea ‘Nutribeads’ aka Poshan Maala. Her organization SOCHAI was chosen as the winner of ‘One Young World-Lead 2030 Challenge in SDG 2 Zero Hunger category in 2019.She was Featured in the For Tomorrow 2030 platform of UNDP Accelerator Lab and Hyundai for implementing low tech solution of Nutribeads for nutrition education in 2020.Likewise, she was also the winner of Goalkeepers Global Goals Progress Award 2020 given by the Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation for the work in health and nutrition sector in COVID-19 crisis. Beside these, she was listed in the annual list of ‘100 People to Watch’ - Change makers category by Business 360° magazine in 2021.
